Cookie Policy
A complete and honest inventory of what this website stores on your device. Short version: nothing that tracks you — only the browser cache and in-page interface state, both strictly necessary to show you the pages you asked for.
2. Our approach — no tracking
This website sets no advertising, analytics or tracking cookies. We do not profile visitors, we do not follow you across other websites, we do not use social media pixels, session recording, heat mapping or device fingerprinting, and we do not sell or share browsing data with anyone. Because we set no non-essential cookies, no consent banner is shown — under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003, consent is not required for storage that is strictly necessary to provide a service you have requested.
If we ever introduce analytics or any other non-essential technology, we will update this policy, publish the change, and ask for your consent through a banner before any such cookie is set. Consent will be as easy to refuse as to give, and as easy to withdraw as to give.
3. What this website actually uses
The table below lists everything mapmakersopera.com stores on your device or requests from a third party.
| Name / technology | Type | Purpose | Duration | Consent needed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Browser HTTP cache | First party, technical | Stores the stylesheet, script and font files so pages load quickly on your next visit. Standard browser behaviour, not a cookie. | Set by your browser; typically days to weeks | No — strictly necessary |
| In-page interface state | First party, in-memory | Remembers, for the duration of the page view only, which product slide, gallery filter, testimonial or FAQ panel you have open. Held in the page's memory and discarded when you navigate away or close the tab. | Page view only | No — strictly necessary |
| Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com) | Third party, resource request | Delivers the Inter, Anton and Caveat typefaces used across the site. Google does not set cookies on font file requests, but the request itself discloses your IP address, browser and referring page to Google. | Files cached by your browser, typically up to 12 months | No cookie is set; see section 4 |
| Hosting server logs | First party, server side | Records IP address, timestamp, requested page, status code and user agent for security, abuse prevention and fault diagnosis. Not stored on your device. | Up to 12 months | No — legitimate interests, see Privacy Policy |
We do not currently operate any customer account, checkout, live chat, embedded video or embedded map on this website, so none of the cookies associated with those features are present. Our enquiry form submits directly to us and sets no cookie.
4. Google Fonts and how to avoid it
To render our typography consistently we load three open-source typefaces from Google's font service. Your browser makes a request to fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com. Google states that it does not set cookies on these requests and does not use the data to identify individuals, but the request necessarily transmits your IP address, browser version and the referring page. Google's handling of that data is governed by its own privacy notice.
If you would rather not make that request, you can:
- use a browser extension that blocks third-party resource loading, or
- block the two domains above in your browser, extension or network settings.
The site remains fully readable and functional without them — your browser will substitute the system sans-serif specified in our stylesheet. If you are a business customer with a policy against third-party resource loading, contact us and we will supply a self-hosted build of the site for your intranet.
5. Managing and deleting cookies
You can control storage in your browser at any time. Most browsers let you view what is stored, delete individual items, block third-party storage, or clear everything when you close the browser. The relevant settings are usually found under Privacy, Security or Site settings:
- Google Chrome — Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies / Site data.
- Mozilla Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
- Safari (macOS) — Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data.
- Safari (iOS/iPadOS) — Settings app → Safari → Advanced → Website Data.
- Microsoft Edge — Settings → Cookies and site permissions.
Private or incognito browsing discards site storage when the window is closed. Deleting site data for mapmakersopera.com has no adverse effect: nothing you need is stored, and every page will simply be re-downloaded on your next visit.
Blocking cookies on other websites may stop those sites working properly. That is a matter between you and them; our site is designed to work with all site storage blocked.
